The President and the Law – The Buhari Case

It may be a fallacy to assert that ‘Nigeria is a Democratic Country’. This is because almost all the political activities going on in some parts of the country are all the opposite of Democracy. – The President and the Law –

The last time it was checked, ‘Democracy is Government of the people, by the people and for the people’. But the reverse has been the case ever since.

Nigerian Citizens have, in a bid to express their feelings over their unacceptable behavior of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, clamored with regrets and disappointment written all over their faces.

Nigerians Express their feelings

According to Engr. Henry, the President has been perceived different times going against the laws not minding the fact that he swore an oath on the inauguration day.

Furthermore, he stated that ‘the Judiciary organ of government appears to be dependent and not independent again. This is because the president has taken charge over all the organs.

In our earlier update, we evaluated the case of Justice Walter Onnoghen and the need for a due process, and the issue has been touched by a Nigerian Right Activist.

In the view of one Demola, Onnoghen can be demonised from today till tomorrow – none of us will angelise him. The point here is that the President we elected and who before the whole world swore an oath to uphold the constitution has breached the constitution. And nothing will change that simple fact.

Reactions

To many Nigerians, the President has done a lot that indicate his nonchalant behavior about Nigerian laws and constitution.

It was gathered that the President, not quite long ago, has refused to sign the bill to a free and fair election. Does it entail that he doesn’t wish for a free and fair election?
