Uche Nwosu – Anti Party Activity;

The 2019 General election pre-controversies in Nigeria is incomplete without mentioning Imo state. The polity which is said to have been overheated in Imo state comes up with drama which unfolds daily. I am however concerned with the anti-party activities and the dead of party ideology in the state. The Anti party activities of Uche Nwosu..

Ordinarily, I would not dabble into what many have described as show of shame by many right thinking individuals who understand democracy and how political party members should act.

Across the globe, political parties are identified by their ideology and philosophy. This defines the policies and programs they pursue, when they lead and govern. The major political ideologies vary from socialist, liberal, capitalist, and even progressive.

Mr. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu

This is what has defined key democratic societies like the USA, UK. The story of Nigeria is however different as there seems to be a dearth of political parties driven by ideology, The easy cross carpeting attitude of our leaders today have shown that they have botched political ideology as personal interest always overrides party interest. It will be of great importance to imbibe and sustain party ideology as it defines what one represents.

Firstly, the recent statement credited to the national chairman of Action Alliance (AA) Kenneth Udeze announcing Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate is not new for many who have continued to follow the unfolding drama in Imo state.

Think About This;

What have left many bewildered is the response of the party’s governorship candidate Mr. Uche NWOSU who said and I quote “We have made up our mind in Imo State chapter of the party to support President Buhari and nothing can change that. No amount of threat or blackmail can change our decision. The AA can decide what they want in other states, but in Imo we have made up our minds and nothing can change that.

The statement of Mr. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu have left many to ask what have happened to party ideology. Do individual interest now override party interest? Is Uche Nwosu showing signs of being above the party? The last time I checked dogs wag their tail and not the tail wagging the dog.

People have often claimed that Mr. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu if elected will be a stooge to governor Rochas Okorocha who they claim he sold his mandate to in 2014 governorship primary after he willingly handed over the party governorship ticket to after he (Okorocha) lost in the presidential primaries.

Mr. Ugwumba Nwosu who has used many avenues to tell the people of Imo state to look beyond Okorocha as he (Nwosu) has a name for himself as such should be seen as an individual candidate, I was opportune to read his numerous response to people on his Facebook sponsored posts.

People’s Observations;

The actions and inactions of Mr. Uche Nwosu have made many believe in the allegations and claim of being a stooge to be true as he have continued to align with the interests of Gov. Okorocha against the will of the party.

Time may not permit me to talk about the anti-party activities as seen with Okorocha, Amosun and others. But it is important to note that Nigerians are always the cause of their problems as we have always allow ethnic, religious, party sentiment to becloud our sense of reasoning through the act of supporting and hailing leaders even when it is clear they are going astray.

Mr. Uche Nwosu who many see as a good candidate aside the fact that he was part of what they describe as bad governance of Okorocha should play the act as seen in Igbo catholic words of “IJU EKWENSU NA ORU YA NILE”. If you want people to see you as an individual candidate and not a stooge then it will be important to also be independent in all activities as you can disassociate yourself as a member of a group and still attend its meetings.

However it will be pertinent to note that Okorocha performed credibly well in some areas and during his first tenure.
Constance disobedience to party rules could simply portray one in a bad light and the constant insults instead of conviction being carried out daily as seen in comment box of his supporters is also detrimental to his ambition as most of the fellows campaign to be recognized/noticed instead of convince anyone.

The earlier Mr. Uche Nwosu starts obeying the rule and decision of his party the better as not all those who shout UCHE will vote for Uche.
