The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the 2021 Owerri Prison Break as he disclosed on his Twitter handle on Easter Monday morning after the prison break.

According to him, no one deserves to be in any Nigerian prison when killer herdsmen and Boko Haram militants get arrested, freed, and rehabilitated.

According to one Barr. Nnokwe George, Nnamdi Kanu’s reaction and statement about the Owerri Prison Break should not be misunderstood because he had referenced the Federal Government’s method of operation where they catch notorious terrorists, herdsmen, Boko Haram insurgents, and other first-class terrorists from the Northern part of the country and refuse to give them the necessary punishment as the law demands.

Rather, the Federal Government will always set them free, declare them as repented criminals, and recruit them in the military right away.

However, in reaction to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s statement, some people have disagreed while others agreed with him. One Jude Emeka has commented that:

Onye isi anyi Nnamdi Kanu, I don’t agree with you on this one…if this is a planned attack then the lives and security of Ndi Igbo is in abysmal danger..This act should be condemned by all and sundry, it is not part of the cause we are fighting for. Don’t justify insecurity

Also, another follower who is identified as Light & Darkness lamented that:

If you destroy the system, what will you build upon? These same prisoners will terrorize the people you say you’re fighting for. Stealing and circulating weapons will put people’s lives at risk, those you claim to be fighting for. These same guys will turn their backs on you.

Light & Darkness

Yet, another comment from Wilson Smith:

Some people who see this as a bad move are the people who never visit prisons because almost all the people in the prison are innocent of what the bad government accused them of, May Chukwu Okike abiama continue to give you more wisdom to accomplish this tax of Biafra restoration.

These and many more comments continue to spring up in reaction to Nnamdi Kanu’s tweet about Owerri prison break 2021. However, the 2021 Prison Break has been associated with the IPOB by few people who seem to be ignorant of the happenings.
