Police Defines the Sokoto Strangers

The Nigerian Police Force has disclosed the results of the investigations and researches on the reports gotten as regards the strange terrorist group in Sokoto. The Police force said this on Saturday while reacting to the reports.

A denial was pictured as regards the claims that a suspected group of terrorist has invaded one of the Local Government in Sokoto State.

It was unraveled when the public relations officer, Nwawe Cordelia told one of our correspondents on Saturday that the people who were indicated as terrorists in Sokoto recently are “MALIAN HERDERS”. In backing her statement up, she lamented that the groups are not there for violence; They are only after their numerous cattle which has been the case past years in the country.

Her further Statements;

Our attention was drown toward a report that some unknown herdsmen were sighted in Gudu and Tangaza local government called Jahadists fully armed to destroy the peace in the area.

The herdsmen sighted are reasonably believed to be Malians who reside in a forest in Niger Republic, sharing border with Gudu and Tangaza local government areas of the state.

The herdsmen are annual visitors to the nearby forest bordering the two local governments with their cattle and always stayed in the forest in Niger Republic.

She concluded by reiterating that even though the number of their cattle increased this year to about three thousand from the former experience of their operation, they are not for violence.
