Fuel scarcity occurs in Nigeria when the government withdraws from paying some percent to the Oil marketers while the public body pays the rest. This entails that Nigerian government, though not generally noticed, supports the availability and affordability of Fuel in the country by paying some percent of the amount while the people pay the rest.

Whenever government decides not to pay up that percent due to one reason or the other, the country experiences Fuel Scarcity. The percent paid by Government is called ‘Subsidy’, thus  ‘Fuel Subsidy’.

Meanwhile the Nigerian Oil Marketers have declared a warning indicating that if nothing is been done until the next seven days, they will embark on strike.

One of their members proudly reiterated that ‘If their outstanding debts of N800bn in subsidies and not paid, then they will shut down the whole oil deport both within and across the country.
