Marriage is often said to be a beautiful thing. However, there are so many stories and theories surrounding Corper marrying another Corper (Corper marry Corper).  Former and serving corp members in Nigeria are all familiar with the song often heard in camp from military men:

They go born mumu;

They go born mumu;

If corper marry corper;

They go born mumu;

Many often rephrase the lines in the song replacing “Mumu “with “Beta”.

Be that as it may, it does not stop the fact that we have witnessed many successful marriages of Corper getting married to another Corper.

The aforementioned issue, however, formed part of the discussion during the second meeting of the year for EDITORIAL BOARD CDS group FCT on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2018. The group is often referred to as a CDS group with a difference because of its pace-setting nature and is known for always blazing the trail.

The discus which was anchored by the ever eloquent duo of Ali Ibrahim and Ogbodo Cynthia was greeted with many reactions for and against from some members of the group who had the opportunity to express their views.

For Sharon Shawo K, marriage is not for boys. She further buttress her point with maturity as what really matters and not necessarily Corper or no Corper.

However, for Okorie Jennifer, maturity is not about age. According to her, many men can be up to the age of 40 without a sense of maturity while some at the age of 19 are already matured in mind.

Outspoken Sule Gabriel wowed fellow corp members when he pointed out that Love is not all it takes. In his words, “if you say love is blind, marriage will open it”

For Iwuajoku Chimaobi, what matters is the ideology of the two and not the fact they Corpers.

The discussion which was centered more on the financial and mental ability of the men had Zobam Ezeife with an opinion to wake up the consciousness of ladies. According to her, every woman has a role to play in financial needs for marriage to strive.

She is of the opinion that marriage is a partnership and not only a man’s thing. She expresses her disappointment in the fact that many ladies end up staying at home doing nothing and be solely dependent on the men after spending years in school.

The segment was rounded up with a goodwill message to one of the members of the CDS group who added another year.
